Oliver Maki is famous for having proven up the three billion ton "Los Pelambres" open pit copper mine in Chile.

There are 500 miners at work there- and it is expected to have a 50 year mine life. (It had several times been turned down by others as being uneconomic!)

During the course of his long career he has acted as:
  • Economic Geologist for the United Nations
  • Superintendent of a lead/zinc mine in Wisconsin
  • Headed the Mexican operations of Gulf Sulfer
  • For two decades was Professor of Geology at Cambrian College, Sudbury, Ontario, Canada.

Fluent in Spanish, he has spent years exploring properties in Central and South America

Mr. Maki is considered to be one of the worlds experts in placer gold mining.

He is often retained to give unbiased "second opinions" on mining ventures.
